Neva, after seeing your originals of these illustrations I have to agree that these pictures don't begin to do them justice. The originals are really wonderful and show that you can indeed become a very successful cut paper artist. I am very proud of you!
Aw thanks guys! I know they'll look ten times better when the photographer lights them and shoots them with his fancy camera. I didn't put that much effort in lighting these.
Alicia, everything is done with paper. I didn't even think of canvas! Although, that might have frayed a bit too much...No I sat there with my scissors and cut up the edges.
This blog started when I was in the Visual Arts graduate program at the Art Institute of Boston. Since graduating, I'm still pursuing a career as a children's picture book illustrator. In the meantime, I teach, work at an Art Museum, and freelance. It's not the simplest path, but it makes me happy.

These look great! Did you use canvas to get that frayed edge on the grass? Whatever that is, I love that 'frayed' effect.
Also, how awesome is that pruple octopus drawing? Very. : )

Ha! I'm glad you like the octopus!
